Course Summary

This qualification is designed to increase your awareness and understanding of behaviour that challenges and its effects, enabling you to respond effectively to signs and symptoms.
You will identify different types of challenging behaviour, investigate underlying issues and possible reasons behind the behaviour. You will understand the impact of this behaviour on the individual and others and also how it may affect you.
You will look into strategies for dealing with behaviour that challenges and legislation surrounding the individuals’ rights. You will look into the management of behaviour and communication, whilst upholding the dignity and safeguarding of the individual.

Unit 1 – Understand behaviour that challenges
In this unit learners will gain an understanding of how behaviour can be perceived as challenging. They will investigate the underlying issues that affect behaviour and the impact it can have on others

Unit 2 – Understand how to support positive behaviour
In this unit learners will gain an understanding of how to identify behavioural changes and triggers that may escalate behaviour. They will then investigate how strategies and support plans can promote positive behaviour. Legislation that protects the rights of the individual will also be investigated

Unit 3 – Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges
In this unit learners will gain an understanding of the impact communication can have on the management of behaviour that challenges. They will investigate the role of positive reinforcement and techniques to de-escalate behaviour. They will also gain an understanding of referral services available to support themselves and the individual

Unit 4 – Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges
In this unit learners will gain an understanding of the importance of reflection following an incident of behaviour that challenges. They’ll understand the consequences of their actions and how to maintain their own wellbeing

Entry Requirements

* You must be aged 19+
* You must live in England (not available to people living in Ireland, Scotland or Wales)
* You must have been an EU resident for at least 3 years
* No qualifications are necessary for you to start the course.
All learners are subject to an eligibility check before you can start the course. You may be required to forward information to us about your current employment or income/benefit status to allow you to get started.

How Is It Assessed

Assessment is based on answering questions either online or by completing a paper-based question/answer paper.

How Is It Taught

As you work through the learning materials you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you support, advice and guidance on the course content as well as providing robust feedback on the work you complete. Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded the CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges.

What Could I do Next

After completing a distance learning qualification and receiving confirmation from your assessor that the course has been achieved, you are able to enrol on another distance learning qualification.

What Else Do I Need To Know

The assessments are divided into units and submission of answers is per unit. Support is available from your assessor throughout the course and after the completion of each unit when the assessor will assess the answers provided and provide written feedback.
