Course Summary

This course builds on your basic decorating skills and prepares you for work
as a professional painter and decorator. You’ll learn how to prepare surfaces, use specialist techniques, apply paint to complex areas, and hang wall coverings to a high standard. You’ll also cover how to mix exact colours and create decorative finishes used in real-world settings.

Most of your time will be spent in the workshop developing practical skills with industry standard tools and materials. You’ll also study important theory in the classroom, including building construction principles, site safety, communication in construction, and workplace health and welfare.

This course is ideal if you’re aiming to work in domestic, commercial, or industrial decorating – or if you want to eventually run your own decorating business. It’s also a great next step if you’re planning to move into further training or secure an Apprenticeship.

If you’re practical, detail-focused, and ready to build on your painting and decorating skills, this course is a strong foundation for a rewarding career in the trade.
