Course Summary

Unit 01: Exploring childhood and family structures

In this unit learners will begin to explore the development of babies and children, and different perspectives on childhood. The unit will also cover the role of the family and different family structures.

Unit 02: Introduction to adverse childhood experiences

This unit introduces learners to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and potential outcomes for babies and children impacted by ACEs. The unit also covers the role of the practitioner in supporting children.

Unit 03: Understand strategies to improve outcomes for children affected by adverse childhood experiences

In this unit learners will consider the role of the practitioner in supporting children impacted by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) using strategies to develop resilience and improve outcomes.

Course Requirements

Entry Requirements

* You must be aged 19+
* You must live in England (not available to people living in Ireland, Scotland or Wales)
* You must have been an EU resident for at least 3 years
* You must be working within an appropriate setting to be able to
meet the assessment requirements of this qualification
All learners are subject to an eligibility check before you can start the course. You may be required to forward information to us about your current employment or income/benefit status to allow you to get started.

How Is It Assessed

Assessment is based on answering questions either online or by completing a paper-based question/answer paper. You will also be required to demonstrate practical skills via observation in the workplace and a witness testimony.

How Is It Taught

As you work through the learning materials, you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you support, advice and guidance on the course content as well as providing robust feedback on the work you complete. This course consists of 1 assessment to be completed within an 8 week period. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Technical Specialist in Adverse Childhood Experiences in Early Years (Certificate).

What Could I do Next

After completing a distance learning qualification and receiving confirmation from your assessor that the course has been achieved, you are able to enrol on another distance learning qualification.

What Else Do I Need To Know

The assessments are divided into units and submission of answers is per unit. Support is available from your assessor throughout the course and after the completion of each unit when the assessor will assess the answers provided and provide written feedback.
