Stoke on Trent College Celebrates Platinum Excellence in Safeguarding Award 2025

Stoke on Trent College is delighted to announce that it has once again achieved the highest recognition for its commitment to student safety and wellbeing, receiving the Platinum Excellence in Safeguarding Award following a comprehensive external review in November 2025.

The independent audit, conducted by Incyte International, commended the College’s unwavering focus on safeguarding as a core value, stating that “safeguarding is a top priority for college leaders, staff and learners.” The review highlighted the College’s robust policies, highly trained staff, and a culture where every member of the community feels safe, supported, and empowered.

Key strengths celebrated in the 2025 report include:

· Outstanding Leadership: The Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) team is described as “well trained, well informed and highly effective,” ensuring robust support for all learners.

· Comprehensive Support for Vulnerable Students: The College’s proactive approach to supporting vulnerable learners, including those with additional needs and unaccompanied asylum seekers, was highly praised.

· Strong Partnerships: Effective collaboration with external agencies and feeder schools ensures that students receive the right support at the right time.

· Student Voice and Wellbeing: Surveys and focus groups confirm that students know who to turn to if they have concerns, and value the College’s visible safeguarding presence and mental health support.

· Continuous Improvement: The College’s safeguarding policies are regularly reviewed and updated, reflecting the latest statutory guidance and best practice.
