Course Summary

Unit 1 – Planning an event
In this unit the learner will consider the different sectors when planning events and look at the duties of the Event Planner/Coordinator. They will then produce a plan for an event of their choice and explore the need for a contingency plan. Finally, they will investigate the importance of security as well as Health & Safety requirements and understand how to carry out a risk assessment at the selected event.

Unit 2 – Event review and evaluation
In this unit learners will investigate why events are evaluated and how evaluation can inform future events. They will then look at objective setting and potential sources of information for evaluating events and explore evaluation tools. Finally, learners will produce an event evaluation plan.

Unit 3 - Market research and marketing methods in event planning
In this unit learners will explore the importance of initial market research and investigate marketing methods and resources. They will then produce a marketing plan for an event of their choice.

Unit 4 - Human resource planning at events
Learners will investigate the requirements for management, teams and personnel in relation to an event of their choosing.

Unit 5 - Communication and customer service at events
In this unit learners will explore how communication is used at events and barriers to communication. They will then look at Equality of Opportunity and discrimination. Finally they will investigate customer service and produce a guide for personnel who will be engaged in an event regarding expected customer service standards.

Entry Requirements

* You must be aged 19+
* You must live in England (not available to people living in Ireland, Scotland or Wales)
* You must have been an EU resident for at least 3 years
* No qualifications are necessary for you to start the course.
All learners are subject to an eligibility check before you can start the course. You may be required to forward information to us about your current employment or income/benefit status to allow you to get started.

How Is It Assessed

Assessment is based on answering questions either online or by completing a paper-based question/answer paper.

How Is It Taught

As you work through the learning materials you will have the support of a knowledgeable assessor/tutor who will give you support, advice and guidance on the course content as well as providing robust feedback on the work you complete. Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Event Planning.

What Could I do Next

After completing a distance learning qualification and receiving confirmation from your assessor that the course has been achieved, you are able to enrol on another distance learning qualification.

What Else Do I Need To Know

The assessments are divided into units and submission of answers is per unit. Support is available from your assessor throughout the course and after the completion of each unit when the assessor will assess the answers provided and provide written feedback.
