T Level in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing

Course Summary

This course is suitable for anyone interested in a career in design and development for engineering and manufacturing, and leads to roles such as CAD Technician or 3D Printing Technician plus many more.

You will develop core knowledge and skills required to work in the engineering industry including how materials, conditions and context influence design processes and products.

You will also study mathematics, materials and their properties, business, commercial and financial awareness among other relevant topics.

Entry Requirements

You should be aged 16-19 and will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths, English and Science. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure this is the right level for you. All learners will need a clear DBS prior to the start of the course and will be required to purchase a uniform.

How Is It Assessed

Assessment is through a combination of coursework, work-based observations, an employer project, some examinations and an end point assessment.

How Is It Taught

T Levels are delivered using state-of-the-art, specialist facilities and industry equipment found in the workplace. The mixture of classroom learning and 'on the job' experience through a minimum 9 week industry placement allows you to apply the skills developed in the classroom to a real working environment.
