From 17th October to 21st October, the College will participate in Colleges Week, part of the Love Our Colleges Campaign. This is a week dedicated to celebrating and highlighting all the brilliant work at the College.
To celebrate the 5th year of #LoveOurColleges, our students’ union and enrichment team will be running activities throughout the week, where students and staff can get involved and tell us what they love about college life and why. To find out more about Colleges Week and the Love Our Colleges Campaign, head over to the Association of Colleges website.
To kick the week off we’re taking a look at what some of our current students have had to say about their experiences at the college so far…
Brandon Oakley, Apprentice
Brandon Oakley is a second year Bricklaying Apprentice at Stoke on Trent College. Listen to what Brandon loves about studying here!
George Smith-Briggs, Media Student
George Smith-Briggs is in his second year at college and is studying Level 3 Media within our Digital & Creative Hub based at our Cauldon Campus. Watch what George has to say about his time studying with Stoke on Trent College so far.
Megan Evans and Sara Gazikova, Health & Social Care Students
Megan and Sara study Health & Social Care at our Cauldon Campus. See what they both had to say about their experiences at Stoke on Trent College up to now.
As this year’s theme is based around Staff, Students and Skills, we will also be celebrating the successes of our staff team and the positive influences they have on our learners.
Kieron, Public Services Lecturer
Kieron Salmon initially joined Stoke on Trent College as a Behaviour Support Officer after being medically retired from the Staffordshire Police after 10 years of service.
Upon Kieron’s arrival, it was clear to see his incredible passion and energy for inspiring young people, resulting in colleagues encouraging and supporting him to pursue a career in teaching. After gaining the necessary teaching qualifications through continuous professional development, our Public Services students are now lucky enough to have him as their Lecturer!
When asked about his favourite part of being a college lecturer, Kieron commented:
“I find it extremely rewarding, to help, and guide learners on their journey to be the best version of themselves. I get a lot of satisfaction teaching Public Services to learners who aspire of working in the sector that I once did.”
