Mirandah puts best foot forward in the iconic Potters ‘Arf Marathon
Stoke on Trent College Barbering Lecturer Mirandah Burgess is putting her best foot forward to support a local charity in this year’s Potters ‘Arf Marathon.
She will be running the iconic half marathon on 29 September 2024, with the aim to raise £1000 alongside her sister-in-law.
Mirandah has already made a great start to her fundraising campaign, with £380 donated on her JustGiving page to date.
Mirandah Burgess said:
“There are people in my family who have accessed Dougie Mac’s services in the past, so every time I give to charity it has always been them.
“The furthest I have run is 10k, but I go out with my dad every Sunday, and he has experience of full and ultra-marathons, so he is putting together a training plan for me.
“My training has started, as I have heard it’s quite a tough course and I want to be ready.”
Lisa Capper MBE, CEO & Principal at Stoke on Trent College said,
“It’s great to see our staff taking part in charity activities and taking on such a tough, local challenge as the Potters ‘Arf Marathon.
“We would like to wish her luck and hope she achieves her fundraising target for a great local charity like Dougie Mac.”
Deborah Vickers, Head of Business and Community Fundraising at Dougie Mac, said,“Dougie Mac relies heavily on the support of the local community to enable us to continue our specialist care services, so we’re always really grateful to people like Mirandah who take on such a big challenge to raise money for us. On behalf of everyone here, I wish her lots of luck with her training over the next few months.”
