Course Summary

The units are directly related to the candidates' role in school and cover the following areas:
- supporting learning activities
- health and safety and safeguarding
- promoting positive behaviour
- working as a team
- maintaining a learning environment
- providing displays
- supporting curriculum subjects, eg literacy and numeracy.

Course Requirements

Entry Requirements

No formal academic qualifications are required but candidates should have a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
Candidates can progress from a level 2 to a level 3 programme, and from level 3 to a Foundation degree in Education.

How Is It Taught

This is a taught programme requiring attendance in college each week to understand the theory, 1:1 tutorials and observation in the workplace.

What Could I do Next

Succesful candidates may be able to progress on to the Foundation Degree in Education.

What Else Do I Need To Know

Candidates who are not currently employed as a teaching assistant in the school sector need to be volunteering for a minimum of 8 hours each week to complete the qualification.
