Course Summary

This is a 35 week course for people supporting learning in primary, secondary and special schools who wish to gain a qualification as a trained teaching assistant supporting the work of the classroom teacher.

How Is It Taught

The taught elements of the course will take place in college, using a wide range of teaching strategies and technology. You will be expected to complete some hours of directed study working at your own pace guided by the staff. Practicial on the job training takes place in the school setting where your practical skills will also be observed.

What Could I do Next

On successful completion of the course you may be able to progress to the Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning in school or Level 3 Learning support qualification. There is also a clear progression pathway to the Foundation Degree in Education.
