Course Summary

To enrol onto this apprenticeship, you must have an employer who is willing to support you throughout the duration of your training and end point assessment.

The Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship prepares individuals to work with children from birth to five years old, supporting their learning, development, and well-being. Early Years Educators play a crucial role in nurturing young children and laying the foundation for their future education. They ensure children develop in a safe and stimulating environment, working in settings such as nurseries, preschools, and reception classes.

The apprenticeship focuses on the following course content:

Knowledge
Child Development
- The stages and areas of development for children from birth to five years old.
- How to observe and assess children’s progress.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- Principles and framework of the EYFS.
- How to plan, deliver, and evaluate activities that support children’s learning and development.
Safeguarding and Welfare
- Policies and procedures for safeguarding children and promoting their well-being.
- Recognising and responding to signs of abuse or neglect.
Health and Safety
- Procedures for maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
- Administering basic first aid and promoting hygiene practices.
Equality and Diversity
- Understanding and promoting inclusive practices.
- Supporting children with additional needs.
Partnership Working
- Building positive relationships with parents, carers, and other professionals.
- Sharing information appropriately to support children’s development.

Child Interaction and Support

GCSE Grade 4 or above in English or Maths.

How Is It Assessed

The End Point Assessment for the apprenticeship consists of observations with questioning and a professional discussion underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.

How Is It Taught

During the practical period, you will attend college one day a week and for the remaining part of your contracted hours, will be in the workplace building on your knowledge, skills and behaviours.

On completion of this apprenticeship, you may wish to consider to progress your career further and look into the following courses: Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Level 5 Early years lead practitioner, Level 5 Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Level 6 Early Years Teacher or Level 6 Teacher.

You will be assigned a Skills Coach who will visit and support you in the workplace and complete progress reviews in preparation for your End Point Assessment.
